Located in the picturesque village of Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, Mount Juliet Equestrian Centre is the ultimate retreat to relax and unwind in both elegance and comfort. Enjoy Equestrian sports, Horse Riding, Cross Country Trekking and Equestrian Tuition on the 1500 acre estate, which encompasses some of the most beautiful rolling countryside in Irelands sunny southeast. Steeped in equestrian history, this truly unique spot is the very blueprint of an Irish country house. With accommodation ranging from the 5 star Presidential Suite in the 18th century Mount Juliet House to the ultimate privacy and flexibility of a Rose Garden Lodge to the more informal 4 star club rooms at the Hunters Yard, Mount Juliet certainly has something for everyone. As well as our international standard equestrian Centre, Mount Juliet also offers the very best in dining. Choose from the sumptuous surroundings of The Lady Helen dining room, where you will experience delicious cuisine prepared using herbs and vegetables from the estates own gardens. Alternatively, Kendals Restaurant situated in The Hunters Yard, serves contemporary Irish cuisine in a relaxed and convivial environment. Both restaurants offer stunning views over the countryside. The estate itself was a private residence until 1987 and has long and interesting history. For almost two hundred years it was home to The Earls of Carrick. In 1914 the estate was sold to the McCalmont family. Ballylinch Stud was founded by Major McCalmont as a base for his championship race-horse, The Tetrarch. The family enjoyed great equestrian success at Ballylinch and developed several influential stallions as well as highly successful from the broodmare Messopotamia.
