An exciting range of recreational activities providing lots of fun for all the family is on offer at Castlecomer Discovery Park, County Kilkenny. Discover your inner climber by completing the new Tree Top Adventure Walk. Launched in summer 2012 this has proven to be one of our most popular attractions. Walking high above the tree tops, ten metres above the ground, this 140 metre long course gives a birds eye view of the park to those brave enough to venture up! Perfect for a family adventure, team building, or corporate groups we encourage you to take the path in the sky.

Reach new heights by challenging yourself on our great outdoor climbing wall with several different levels for all to enjoy. Experience our daring ‘Leap of Faith’ – climb the 7 metre pole, balance on the platform and take a ‘leap of faith’ aiming for the target before being assisted back to ground level!

Fishing: The grounds of Castlecomer Discovery Park are centered around two rainbow trout fishing lakes. Originally constructed by the Prior Wandesforde family, the two man-made lakes formed a centrepiece for the demesne. The lakes are now fully re-instated with angling stands to allow full access to the water and a series of cascades link the lakes and channel the water back into the River Deen. Cost: €15 for four hours fishing. Rod hire €5 with a €15 refundable deposit.

Coal Mining Museum: The Coal Mining Museum comprises a 45 minute tour through Castlecomer’s coal mining past. The exhibition is an interactive multi-media display that takes the visitor on a journey through time. Starting with the formation of the coal 300 million years ago, it brings the visitor through more than 300 years of coal mining history to the closure of the mines in 1969.
