On a Wolftrek Horse Tour, riders are told about the history of the Irish horse in sport, transport, farming and war, all told by their guide on the trek. As riders ride along they have short breaks at "stop stations" where elaborate props and large historic posters are used to illustrate this dramatic story, all from the comfort of their saddle!
Wolftrek Horse Tour are located in County Wicklow near the town of Blessington, 30km (45mins) from Dublin on the main road to Glendalough, which has a frequent public bus service from Dublin city centre. They have exclusive access to beautiful private farmland in West Wicklow and do not use public roads. From the saddle riders can take in the view of the Wicklow Mountains; once the heart of an ancient volcano, while listening to the informative guide. Their trek is at a walk and a lead/guide can be arranged for children and beginner riders. Non riders (such as parents or partners) are welcome to walk with the trek and hear their story.
They have three trek types;
Mini Trek - Their shortest trek, suitable for first time riders and children six years old and upwards
Cottage Trek - Suitable for first time riders and children six years old and upwards
Hill Trek - With faster paces this trek is for experienced adult riders only (Not suitable for children)
Bookings: All riding reservations must be made through the booking facility on their website.
Horse Riders: Riders must be over six years old to ride. While their trek is suitable for children and beginner riders visitors should note that horse riding is a risk sport and can be dangerous. Wolftrek supply protective riding helmets and riding boots which are mandatory.
Walkers: Walkers must have a level of fitness for a moderate walk and are expected to take reasonable care in relation to uneven ground and other natural elements of a country location. Adequate and suitable footwear must be worn (waterproof recommended). Visitors are not permitted to stay on their premises unsupervised.
