Located in Lucan, County Dublin, Primrose Hill is a regency villa attributed to architect James Gandon. The garden was created over the last 40 years and contains a large collection of perennial plants, roses and lilies, many of them rare. The garden is filled with continuous colour through the summer months ending with a collection of crocasmia and a strain of lobelias including two named ones, Pink Elephant and Spark.
There is also a spring garden with a large collection of snowdrops, irises, hellebores, erythroniums, auriculas, paeonies and more. The pretty drive with mature trees is flanked by fields with a developing arboretum.
Primrose Hill is open February, June and July, and during Heritage Week in August, from 2pm to 6pm. Groups are welcome by appointment. Admission costs €6 per person.
Primrose Hill is not wheelchair accessible.
