Art Galleries

Programmes feature Irish and international designers, artists and makers across a variety of disciplines who push the boundaries of their chosen materials and techniques in their engagement with the making process. The gallery provides a platform where work can be explored in wider cultural contexts, to develop understanding of the traditional roots of Irish craft and design, and its future potential.

Through programmes and partnerships, the NCG has reached an audience of over 100,000 people nationwide in 2011, and continues to develop new audiences for craft as a key part of their activities. Through showing and interpreting the highest quality national and international work, the gallery educates and inspires, raising standards and encouraging critical dialogue and learning in the process.

The National Craft Gallery touring programme works with Irish and international venues and partners to bring critically-acclaimed exhibitions to a wider audience, and in 2012 will tour exhibitions to Scotland, to the Saatchi Gallery in London and to Dublin, Galway and Cork.
