The heritage town of Listowel is situated in the heart of North Kerry along the banks of the River Feale, nestled in the heart of the rolling hills of the beautiful North Kerry countryside. It is hometown to author Maurice Walsh, playwright John B. Keane (whose social drama “The Field” was filmed in 1991), and master of the short story, Bryan McMahon.
North Kerry is passionate about horse racing and Listowel race course is beautifully situated on an island, located on the opposite side of the River Feale from the town. Listowel is home to the famous Autumn Meet, one of Ireland’s premier sporting events and part of the town’s folk tradition since 1858.
