Family Fun in Westport

Discover Westport

Westport with its gracious Georgian town centre boasts cheerful, multi-coloured shopfronts jostling for attention with an attractive selection of pubs, shops, cafés and restaurants and is one of Ireland's few planned towns. The planning of the town was undertaken by James Wyatt in 1780 under commission by the 3rd Earl of Altamont (who later became the 1st Marquess of Sligo) of Westport House.

Venture outside of the town and the true beauty of the greater Clew Bay area from Achill Island in the north to Louisburgh on the southern shore and Clare Island unfolds before you offering up breathtaking vistas, a myriad of activites and most importantly the opportunity to just get away from it all.
