The building and machinery at Bealick Mill was restored in 1993 and it is now a full working mill, with electricity being generated. The mill gets its name from Bealach Leachta, the ancient route used by local saints. The mill overlooks Leach Mahon standing stones which commemorate the Battle of Bealach Leachta. This bloody conflict, was won by Brian Boru’s forces in 978 A.D.
