Rail
Ireland’s rail network is continually improving and travelling by train nowadays is an absolute pleasure. Dublin is the hub for almost all train services, with routes fanning out to all big cities and towns. Visit www.irishrail.ie for information.
In Dublin, the Luas runs through the heart of the city. Tickets can be bought at machines at every Luas stop, visit www.luas.ie for information. Another great way to get around Dublin is the DART, especially if you are visiting one of Dublin’s coastal beauty spots. For timetables and prices see www.irishrail.ie
Bus
Ireland also has an excellent bus network servicing all regions. The major towns all have a main bus station, which will allow you to branch off to surrounding smaller towns and villages, and in some cases the more isolated spots of Ireland. Bus Éireann is the largest provider and you can check timetables, routes, and book your tickets online at www.buseireann.ie
Walk and Bike
The best way to experience Ireland is of course to walk or cycle. There is a superb network of trails available, over mountains, around lakes, along rivers and across islands. Of course you can also cycle, canoe, surf or swim your way around Ireland, and see the country in the best possible way.
