01 May - Tuesday 31 October 2017
Venue: Dún Laoghaire
Dún Laoghaire Harbour has been a place where relatives have waved off ships of emigrants, and where cruises have stopped off, heaving with eager tourists.
It has long has been a place of industry, tourism, and as its uses have changed, it has undergone facelifts, from rudimentary harbour to a modern hive of activity.
This festival will celebrate two hundred years of Dún Laoghaire harbour with history talks, contemporary art exhibitions, and even a live recording of the RTÉ Sunday Miscellany boasting stories, songs, and spoken word.
A highlight is sure to be the Dún Laoghaire Historical Society Exhibition as it explores the lives of the seaside townspeople and how they lived.
Children can enjoy workshops, and everyone is welcome to feast at the International Harbour Food Festival. Watch sailing boats bob on the horizon or perhaps tour the harbour with a knowledgable guide... whether it's music, history or sport you're into, you'll find something to love at the Dún Laoghaire Harbour Bicentenary.
