26 November - Sunday 26 March 2017
Venue: National Gallery of Ireland
The Hennessy Portrait Prize has, in the three years since its inception, managed to put contemporary portraiture back in the limelight.
Welcoming portraitists from all disciplines, including photography, the annual celebratory exhibition also serves as a sampling of some of Ireland's most interesting artists and creatives.
An esteemed judging panel has been assembled for this year. Jackie Nickerson, an incredible conceptual photographer whose portraits of workers in various African countries simply have to be seen, will be making crucial decisions along with well known art critic Gemma Tipton, Peter Murray, the director of the Crawford Gallery in Cork, and Dr Adriaan Waiboer, curator of Northern European Art at the National Gallery of Ireland.
Say hello to a lot of new faces, literally and figuratively, at the National Gallery of Ireland.
