Hinterland Festival

22 - Sunday 25 June 2017
Venue: Kells

The Hinterland Festival Kells is a celebration of literature, music and culture - previously known as the Hay Festival Kells,

It's an energetic and heady mix of literature, poetry, music, comedy, cookery, fashion, animation, film and history. The essence of Hay is great writing from everywhere - from poets and scientists, lyricists and comedians, environmentalists, thinkers and novelists. Hay Festival is about the power of great ideas to transform our way of thinking and each event looks to unlock those ideas.

Kells has a literary tradition stretching over millennia, and the town has embraced the festival with supporting events such as installations celebrating the Art of Type, pop-up bookshops and galleries, poetry in the pubs, talks in the street and a wandering silver band.

The line-up grows each year, and some of the fantastic contributors this year are:

Stephen Frears
Chris Mullin
Sebastian Barry
Deirdre Purcell
Patricia Scanlan
Paul Howard
Diarmaid Ferriter

and many others.
