26 - 29 July 2012
Venue: The Iveagh Gardens
The Vodafone Comedy Festival 2012 will feature an impressive line-up of 65 international and Irish comedians who will feature at the four day event in the unique and stunning surroundings of Iveagh Gardens, in the heart of Dublin, from July 26 - 29.
The exciting international line-up for this year features “Man of 10,000 Voices” and Police Academy Star, Michael Winslow; the king of comedy cool Reginald D Hunter; the irrepressible Pub Landlord, Al Murray; Edinburgh Fringe winner & stand up poet Tim Key and several Irish (and European) debuts including the Buddha of Comedy Eddie Pepitone, Kyle Kinane, Kumail Nanjiani and the delightfully crazy Aussie duo Sammy J & Randy. Returning following last year’s success will be multiple award winning one-liner Milton Jones, charismatic Argumental team captain Seann Walsh and Reggie Watts, who LA Weekly recently described as ‘the most wildly inventive new talent of the last five years’.
This year’s Vodafone Comedy Festival boasts another fantastic line up of Irish comedy genius with Tommy Tiernan, Jason Byrne, PJ Gallagher, Ardal O’Hanlon, David O’Doherty, Neil Delamere, The Nualas, David McSavage, Kevin McAleer, Barry Murphy and Dead Cat Bounce. There are also many new challengers to the throne, including Republic of Telly’s Bernard O’Shea, Fred Cooke, Jarlath Regan, Eric Lalor, Eleanor Tiernan and Foil Arms and Hog, as well as the Dublin premier of Colm O’Regan’s ‘Ireland’s Got Mammies’. Aidan Bishop will once again host a showcase of all that is wonderful about the International Comedy Club.
Other international acts include Canadian Tom Stade, South African Trevor Noah (currently championed by Eddie Izzard) and the ever sassy US comedienne and regular Chelsea Lately guest, Natasha Leggero. The international line-up is completed by some of the stars of the UK comedy scene including the wonderfully inventive Alex Horne, 8 out of 10 Cats’ Josh Widdicombe, musical wizard Jay Foreman, who stormed Vicar St recently as support to Dave O’Gorman, and the joyous, hip-hop improvisation act that is Abandoman.
Over 20,000 people will attend the festival where they will witness performances in four separate comedy venues in the stunning surrounds of Iveagh Gardens, enjoy the colourful splash of street performers, live music and also savour the delights of gourmet food and drinks. Festival-goers can relax in the Vodafone Nut Hut, an interactive space where they will have the chance to unwind and avail of fantastic prizes and giveaways.
