Writers' Week is a literary festival devoted to the cause of the writer. It aims to guide, direct and enthuse the emerging writer, to befriend the established writer and provide a practical platform for their artistic output. This ideal is achieved through sixteen 3-day workshops ranging from novel, poetry, creative writing, travel, song writing, memoir, freelance journalism, short fiction, theatre, screen and writing funny.
Also featuring are readings, lectures, book launches, art exhibitions, debates, literary/historical walks and bus tours, evening concerts, theatre and literary competitions which range from novel, short story, poetry, storytelling, play, Irish entries, writing in prisons and children's writing. The Kerry Group Irish Fiction Award is the biggest prize in Ireland for a work of fiction by an Irish author. There is also a huge children's programme in place for all ages.
