Inside the cottage is very well equipped. The kitchen is supplied with all modern conveniences and has a separate utility room with a back door entrance. The living room has a natural stone built open fireplace lovely for those cold winter nights to relax and double doors leading into the sunroom for the warm summer evenings. Activities in the area include boat charter for pleasure and fishing trips from Rathmullan pier, pony trekking at the Golden Sands Equestrian Centre and hillwalking on the little country roads surrounding the cottage. Letterkenny, County Donegal's main town, is 25 minutes by car and has a five screen cinema, a newly built state of the art Leisure Centre, urban park, an Grianan Theatre and of course, a wide variety of shops. Also within an hour's drive are many historic and family fun centres including Glenveagh National Park, the Ulster American Folk Park, Fort Dunree Military Museum and much more.
The cottage itself overlooks one of the oldest golf courses in Ireland, Otway Golf Club. Otway Cottage is also on route to many of the most scenic drives in the Northwest including the famous Knockalla/Fanad Head Drive and the Atlantic Drive.
