Located in Tullycross village, Co Galway, Renvyle Thatched Cottages consists of nine traditional Irish cottages. A blend of rustic and ultra modern, these properties combine the traditional design of the authentic Irish thatched cottage and home comforts like a modern kitchen and central heating throughout.
One style of cottage sleeps five and the other sleeps seven. Bed linen, towels, tea towels and all necessary household equipment are provided.
The area has a variety of good shops, pubs and restaurants. Babysitting, cleaning and other optional services can be arranged. Cots are available on request. All properties have washer/dryers and colour TVs. Pets are welcome.
Located on the edge of the Atlantic and right next door to Connemara National Park, the area is a paradise for family, sports enthusiasts, botanists, geologists and lovers of Irish traditional music. Within 15 minutes’ drive from the village, guests can enjoy the luxury of Grade A hotels, uncrowded beaches, some of the finest fresh water angling in Europe for salmon, sea-trout and brown trout, sea fishing, golf, picnics on the islands dotted off the seashore; mountain climbing and shooting; deep sea and scuba diving; pony trekking and invigorating tramping through the plum-coloured mountains and vales of nearby Connemara National Park and Kylemore Abbey.
Other local attractions include hill walking along miles of unspoilt country roads, challenging mountain hikes and easy seashore walks. The area is also rich in wildlife thanks to the proximity of Connemara National Park on the slopes of the Twelve Bens. Attractions include exhibitions, nature trails and an audio-visual show. In the summer there are walks, talks and special events for younger visitors. A path to the top of Diamond Hill is well worth the effort for the spectacular 360° views that go on for miles.
Nearby Leenane Cultural Centre and Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled Gardens are also well worth a visit.
