A beautifully restored 16th century towerhouse with unique architectural features. Newtown nature trail, a 1,300m walk around The Burren, is adjacent to the castle.

Newtown Trail:
This specifically laid out trail is 1300m long and runs through an area of the Burren in North Clare renowned for it's historical, archaeological, geological and cultural background. The slope is mainly a dry habitat but due to the solution and percolation effects of the water, there are points where seepage emerges as springs or flushes. There are over 100 species of plants growing along the trail. Insects and other invertebrates abound. There are a cluster of interesting features dating from around Victorian times to be found to the south west of Newton Castle. A Fulacht Fiadh or ancient cooking place is to be found on the higher ground above the trail.
