Haroldstown Dolmen is regarded as one of the most attractive and well-preserved examples of a portal dolmen in Ireland. There are two overlapping capstones, the larger being almost four metres long, the smaller around three metres. The chamber consists of two portal stones with a large door stone and side stones. The chamber is bigger than the average portal tomb chamber, indeed a family lived in the chamber during the 19th century.
