Derryclare Lough

Find Derryclare Lough, 20km east of Clifden in Galway. Marvel at the majestic Twelve Bens mountains and keep an eye out for the red deer that inhabit Derryclare Nature Reserve.

Cross the bridge linking Lough Inagh to Derryclare Lough and enter a peaceful forest haven filled with trees. Red squirrels were introduced to the area in 2005 as part of a translocation project, look out for them hopping about.

Derryclare Nature Reserve is a protected area on the shores of the lough, best known for its old oak woodland. Meander through the woods or cast your fishing rod at Derryclare Lough, a popular spot rich in salmon and trout.
