Kilfane Glen and Waterfall is a tranquil oasis found in County Kilkenny, about 6km north east of Thomastown. The Romantic-era garden was developed in the 1790s and includes a woodland paths and contemporary art created specially for the site.

Influenced by Rousseau and the Romantic movement of the late 18th century, Kilfane Glen is a rugged but beautiful six hectare garden that has retained its original character as conceived by the prominent Power family in the 1790s.

The idyllic landscape, which features wild foxgloves, ferns and other plants used during the Powers’ time, was a popular place for leisure in the early 19th century.

Found in County Kilkenny and open to the public in July and August, Kilfane Glen comprises a 30ft waterfall, rustic grotto and thatched summerhouse, where visitors may take a short break from strolling the grounds.

Each year, the Kilfane Trust invites one or two artists to create works for the property, so guests can take in wonderful pieces of contemporary art on the upper level.
