St Declan's Way

31 March - Saturday 28 July 2018
Venue: Various locations

St Declan’s Way is a pilgrimage that follows a path from Cashel in County Tipperary to Ardmore in County Waterford.

The walk is 104 kilometres in length, so it is broken up into five stages of approximately 20 kilometres each. One stage will be walked on the last Saturday of each March, April, May, June, and July.

The first stage takes pilgrims from Cashel to Cahir, the second from Cahir to Goatenbridge, the third from Goatenbridge to Lismore, the fourth from Lismore to Aglish, and finally from Aglish to Ardmore on Saturday 28th July.

St Declan was an early Christian saint who helped to popularise Christianity in the south of Ireland, and established a monastery in Ardmore, which remains an important place of pilgrimage. This version of the walk has been organised by the Knockmealdown Active Group and has proved an extremely popular walk in recent years.
