The village is home to two pubs, one serving food, and there is a small shop for basics. The market town of Skibbereen is just five miles away where there are several supermarkets, restaurants, shops, chemists etc. There is a wonderful farmer's market held there every Saturday showcasing everything local.
Castletownshend is a great place to relax, get away from it all and explore beautiful West Cork. Note the phone signal is poor in the village but free WiFi is available in the cottages. Recently opened a cafe called EAT at The Castle, so you can wonder in the grounds and watch the world go by while sipping the best organic coffee, sampling homemade cakes, and delicious light lunches.
