Well known throughout Ireland as a TV chef and teacher with a great commitment to promoting the superb produce of his native Donegal, Brian McDermott and his wife Brenda have restored the historic Foyle Hotel to create a boutique hotel, wine bar and informal dining destination.
Restoring an old building to meet the demands of today's traveller is never easy, but the McDermotts have tailored it carefully to hopefully please both visitors and locals. The hosts aim is to ensure guests enjoy the comfort and relaxed ambience of the hotel and the food it offers. At the Foyle Hotel there is a big emphasis on good quality food. The food has a distinct sense of local heritage where seafood from the nearby seaside village of Greencastle features strongly.
As well as the main bar and dining area at the front, which is modern in layout while also respectful to the age of the building, there's an attractive function room with its own bar, which is ideal for weddings. The smartly decorated bedrooms are on the first and second floors where some at the back of the hotel have views over Lough Foyle. All rooms have well appointed en suite showers and the two spacious family suites have baths.
