Eddie makes strong, durable baskets from willow that he grows and cultivates himself. Having devoted many years of training and practice to his chosen craft, Eddie finds the creative process both enjoyable and inspirational.
There is a wide range of handwoven, high-quality baskets available from the workshop in Belturbet, including traditional baskets such as creels and scoibs once used to strain potatoes in the family home to Kerry hampers, plaited wreaths with a Celtic cross as a centrepiece, log and turf baskets, baby’s cradles, willow garden obelisks, and shopper-style baskets.
Tuition is available at Eddie McGrath Baskets, consisting of one or two-day workshops suitable for beginners. Individuals or groups can be accommodated.
Workshops must be pre-booked in advance as the materials need to be selected and prepared. During the workshop, you'll learn the techniques needed to make your own handwoven basket to take home.
