Welcome to Cork City Walks, provider of organised guided walks around the beautiful and charming city of Cork.
During a walk, the story of Cork, its history, its people, colourful culture, Corkonian wit and special traditions are recounted. In the company of a Fáilte Ireland trained local guide, guests will experience the smells and sounds of the English Market, stroll the busy lanes of the 18th century Huguenot Quarter and wonder at Burges’s magnificent French neo-gothic cathedral on Cork’s southern hills.
Mindful that a healthy walk generates a good appetite, guides will indicate a variety of options where one might eat, drink and enjoy the best entertainment Cork has to offer at the time of a visit.
The public guided walks commence in April and conclude in October. These walks are approximately two hours duration and are conducted primarily on the city centre island. They embrace the historical and cultural life of Cork by the Lee from monastic times into the 21st century. Cork City Walks is adept at ensuring guests have a dry and enjoyable experience when inclement conditions prevail. Public tours take place Monday-Saturday, commencing from Cork’s Tourist Information Centre on Saint Patrick’s Street. To ensure enjoyment, public tours are limited to a maximum of 20 people.
Private guided tours are available all year round and designed and costed in consultation with clients. Private walks afford a unique opportunity for the client to have a programme generated that embraces the interests and time commitments of individuals, couples, families or groups from the private, educational and corporate sectors. Private walks of two, three or four hours can be organised on request.
Private tours can also include a mini tasting experience in Cork’s English Market which can create a relaxing interlude during or at the end of a guided walk.
Cork City Walks has a wireless audio tour guide system to aid communication between participants and guide when appropriate or necessary.
