Deirdre Crowley’s Gallery of Clonakilty, County Cork, a compact gallery houses the artist's work whose main inspiration comes from the sea, fields, red sheds, boats and mountains.

Deirdre Crowley’s Gallery is located at 17 Pearse Street Clonakilty, County Cork. Since moving back to this beautiful part of the country Deirdre believes her work has taken on a new dimension and an enhanced spontaneity. Ideas present themselves to Deirdre on a daily basis. She lives breathes and paints the place and life she lives in.

The paintings are inspired by a few different categories. She captures the energy, drama, sound and mystery of the sea. Her depictions of fields are tapestries of colour and texture. Boats are a fascination of Deirdre since she was a child so they feature a lot in her paintings. Deirdre’s pieces are oil paintings on canvas and each is a one off piece. Her paintings have been exhibited in many places including Dublin, London and San Francisco.

The gallery is located in Clonakilty, a thriving melting pot of musicians, both traditional and contemporary. Its bars host live music most nights. There are several things to do in Clonakilty such as visiting the Modern Railway Village, Timoleague Abbey and the Clonakilty Museum.

Clonakilty is the home of the world's only ‘Random Acts of Kindness Festival’. The festival aims to celebrate the welcoming and warmth of the Clonakilty community and the Irish people as a whole. The festival is held each year on the third weekend in July and large crowds turn out for the opening Street party and bubble blowing ceremony. Other events include a children's sports day, speakers’ corner, break dancing, storytelling, traditional Irish music and kindness zones where small free gifts are given out.
