This exhibition comprises, in photographic replica, full size the Dun Emer Banners, produced by the Dun Emer Guild for Loughrea Cathedral in 1904, the work of Evelyn Gleeson and the Yeats sisters, Susan ‘Lily’ Yeats and Elizabeth ‘Lolly’ Yeats.

Evelyn Gleeson and the Yeats sisters, Susan ‘Lily’ Yeats and Elizabeth ‘Lolly’ Yeats are best remembered by their involvement with the Dun Emer Guild, a home crafts group, which they founded in 1902 . Their brothers, Jack Yeats and William Butler Yeats and Cuala Press (originally Dun Emer Press), had direct involvement with the Dun Emer Guild in producing designs for their commissions.

Some of the most distinctive work of the guild can be found in the Dun Emer Banner collection, a project to embroider 24 sodality* and 5 processional banners commissioned by Fr. O'Donovan of Loughrea Cathedral, Co. Galway, which they completed in 1904.
