The Ecology Centre Seaweed Walks
Letterfrack, Co. Galway
Participate in a foraging walk on Renvyle Beach Peninsula and tasting seaweed along the tides edge. The walk will include an appreciation of the ecology, geology, history and the wild landscape of the region.

The walk begins at one of Connemara’s most beautiful beaches overlooking Clare Island and Inishturk, in an area of international conservation importance.

The walk along the beach is a chance to look at the area's many different seaweeds. These include pepper dulse and carrageen moss. You will be taught how to identify them and how to prepare them. Most importantly you will taste them, including some that taste like truffles.

You will also learn about the ecology and geology of Connemara and discover the oldest landmark of human habitation in the area. Discover how this world-famous, dramatic and natural landscape has evolved over millennia.
