Yoga Roots is a yoga school on the west coast of Ireland which is bringing the real roots of yoga to Galway. It was founded by Áine Ní Fhaoláin, a native of the city and dedicated practitioner and educator of yoga.
Áine has been practicing yoga for the past 10 years and this has resulted in a profound knowledge of body work and meditation. Her formal education is with Bihar School of Yoga, who are known for their conservation of traditional yogic practices as done for hundreds of years.
Yoga Roots was founded in 2013 by teaching courses in yoga, tantra and meditation in Galway. The school is based on the principles of the original training while incorporating newer yogic practices.
Practicing yoga outdoors helps to deeply connect with nature through meditations on the senses and elements. The benefits of connecting with nature through yoga include improved mental health, improved emotional health, improved physical health and connection with the deeper aspects of the self.
Yoga takes place in Salthill Park, beside the bandstand. If it’s raining the class will be moved indoors across the road in Leisureland meeting at the reception.
Please arrive 10 minutes early. Mats can be rented for those who do not bring mats. Layers are essential. This class is for people over the age of 18.
