Surrounded by the stunning landscape of the McGillicuddy Reeks, Lough Caragh is a picturesque spot for fishing and recreational boat trips. It is noted for its spring salmon fishing and grilse fishing, and to a lesser extent as a brown trout and sea trout fishery.
The fishing here is regarded as free and the season runs from 17 January. There is one public access point to the lake at the outflowing river. Boats and boatmen are available for hire along the north and west shores.
