Magherabeg Beach can be found 3 miles north of Castlegregory on the Magheree Peninsula. It is an extensive beach and dune system stretching for 37km from Derrymore to the east, near Tralee.
The whole area is protected and is a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and proposed Natural Heritage Area (pNHA); Tralee Bay and Magharee Peninsula, West to Cloghane pNHA and SAC. The beach also lies within the Tralee Bay Complex Special Protection Area (SPA) and the Dingle Peninsula SPA.
