The race consists of a 1.9km swim in the scenic Kenmare Bay. Then the athletes complete an 83km cycle out to the Beara peninsula along the Wild Atlantic Way, over Lauragh and the Healy passes before heading to Glengarriff and back to Kenmare via the Caha pass.
Finally the athletes run 21km on quiet country roads undulating along the river Sheen before turning back to head towards Kenmare town. The final few kilometres of the race sweep downhill to the finish line in the square, the heart of Kenmare town.
