Tours with a marine scientist usually start at Kenmare Pier, Derreen Garden or any other coastal zone arranged with the participants. Where there is a shore, there is a tour.
Participants will learn more about the physical, geological and chemical processes forming this environment in the past, present and future. Go for a walk and discover the biodiversity of the shore, explore the different tidal zones and observe how its inhabitants have adapted to the ever changing conditions of the coast.
Get to know edible seaweed, plant and mussel species and gain inspiration on how to include these healthy, antioxidant rich shore super foods in one's diet.
Tours are adjusted to the group's age and fitness level. Children are always welcome where they can collect shells and plastic along the shore and make art, jewellery and photographs from what they find. It is fun and also a good way to recycle.
