Basket Barn in Carbury County Kildare stocks hand woven baskets made by craftswoman Kathleen Mc Cormick. Her workshop features baskets for sale and also acts as a teaching venue for those wanting to try their hand at basket weaving. All aspects of the weaving process can be witnessed here from the growing of the willow used to make the baskets to spinning wool as well as weaving.
One to one lessons in basket weaving are available as well as larger group sessions on request. The workshop is filled with the smell of willow and the willow growing along the banks of the river is visible. Bespoke items are available to order in a range of colours. Located just off the M4 motorway, parking is available for private cars but there is no room for buses. Kathleen's farm and workshop is situated on the River Boyne where she also keep hens, ducks, cattle and horses. The Royal Canal is located very near so walks can be taken as part of the day’s outing.
