William Keogh, with his wife Ann and father - has been producing breads and confectionery. One of the oldest bakeries in the country, Keoghs Model Bakery was started in 1838 in the same premises in Callan, and throughout the years continued to be passed down through the family. Over 80% of the bakery’s products are made from scratch using tried and well-tested recipes. Keoghs speciality local bread is out crusty handmade turnover or rustic, baked bread in a traditional brick build oven. Keoghs Model Bakery has been consistently recognised for its delicious produce throughout the years and has won many prizes in national bakery competitions run by the Irish Bakery Industry.
Keoghs Model Bakery produces everything from sliced pan bread to wedding cakes, novelty cakes and handmade chocolates which it delivers to their own shops, supermarkets, retail and cake outlets within a 20 mile radius. Three deli branches in Kilkenny will give you the chance to sample the very best of what Keoghs have to offer. The deli shops are open Monday to Saturday from 7am-5pm.
