The renowned Mount Juliet estate, found near Thomastown, County Kilkenny, is home to magnificent gardens that are situated beside the River Nore. There is a designated trail where visitors can take a stroll along the herbaceous and formally maintained herb, rose and walled gardens.
There are three main elements to the gardens, beginning with an informal stream and rockery area near the drive on the approach to the house. Then there’s an old walled rose garden, which has been replanted recently with a mixture of modern and old-fashioned roses. And the walled ornamental garden has many charming features and is especially famous for its stunning double herbaceous borders, which provide an ever-changing spectacle of colour from early summer to late autumn.
The gardens are open by appointment only.
