The Sathya Sai Sanctuary Trust for Nature is a charitable trust whose aim is to provide refuge for sick, elderly, unwanted, abandoned or abused donkeys. It is situated 5km from Castlebaldwin, County Sligo.

The Sathya Sai Sanctuary Trust for Nature is a charitable trust situated on 18 acres of medium quality, very scenic land which is adjacent to the Carrowkeel megalithic site, 5km from Castlebaldwin, County Sligo in north west Ireland.

It was founded in 1991 for the purpose of rescuing Ireland’s “lost” donkeys, most of which are elderly, sick or injured. Once a valuable part of the national heritage these animals had spent their lives working on farms but were now often forgotten and neglected in a world geared for profit and production.

Visitors and donations are always welcome but contact in advance is requested to ensure there is someone there to meet visitors. Waterproof footwear is advisable most times of the year.

Donations can be made in cash or feedstuffs (including carrots and ginger biscuits) or alternatively, there is an adopt a donkey scheme.
