Stay safe, Stay local

There's No Place Like Home, Discover Ireland from Yours

While the second phase of the country re-opening now underway, we all still need to play our part and stay local as much as possible. We have pulled together some tools to help you find walks in your local area. To experience other areas of Ireland, there is a wealth of cultural experiences to enjoy online. From virtual museum and gallery visits to musical treats and stunning footage of Ireland’s landscape, you will always have the best seats in the house! #StayLocal

Explore your local area

Step back into your local area with fresh eyes. As we ease into June, Phase Two of the Irish government guidelines comes into effect, which means you can travel anywhere within your home county or within a 20km limit of your home to another county.

Coillte has mapped 90,000 hectares to focus on conservation. Exploring the forests means the perfect chance to get back to nature and learn more about the environment. With up-to-date guidelines at the forefront of their listings, head to Coillte’s website to find the best tracks and trails open at the moment. Sport Ireland has a wide selection of local walks for you to scout out and a handy searchable map to make sure you’re planning the best route. You can set the length of the walk you want to do and even make sure that you’re going at the right pace. Finding accessible walks close by has never been so easy.

Go on a virtual tour this week

The sofa’s your oyster when it comes to fantastic Irish museum and virtual experiences. To get an idea of the rich history of Henrietta Street, a former tenement building and now a museum, historian Donal Fallon interviews a former resident, Peter Brannigan. Peter and his family lived in 14 Henrietta Street from 1939 to 1949, with Peter himself being born in the basement of the house. Another great Dublin attraction, the Chester Beatty Library is giving us the opportunity to navigate through the museum and take a look at the Galleries, as well as Temporary Exhibitions.

And if you are missing the Irish landscape and all its splendour, it’ll all be waiting for you when the current situation passes. In the meantime, check out ‘’ Top Experiences along the Wild Atlantic Way” for some beautiful views of Ireland’s lush landscape.
