Farney Castle was built in 1185 and is the only round tower in Ireland occupied as a family home. It is located in Holycross, County Tipperary and also has a knitwear and porcelain design shop.

O'Driscoll Garden Centre is located in Thurles, County Tipperary and is an excellent place to pick up rare and unusual plants.

There is something rather attractive about round tower houses, but sadly only a relatively small number were built, mostly in Munster. Perhaps the finest to survive is the impressive early 16th century tower of the Purcells at Ballynahow.
