Founded in 2021, the Waterford International Organ Festival takes place in Waterford’s Christ Church Cathedral, reputed to be Ireland’s finest example of eighteenth-century ecclesiastical architecture. The Festival’s theme is ‘Renaissance to Avant-Garde’ and will take place from Thursday 08 – Sunday 11 June 2023.
A concert will take place each evening, hosting performers such as organist Malcolm Proud, Mexican curtal player Mariana Paras, Finnish baroque violinist Marja Gaynor, Irish trumpeters Colm Byrne and Eamonn Nolan, and Belfast's chamber choir Sestina. On Saturday afternoon, Cathedral organist Simon Harden will lead a children’s concert and workshop featuring an arrangement of Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” by Heinrich Grimm.
