The Thomas Francis Meagher Tricolour Celebration is a cultural and historical event held over three days, which commemorates the flying of the Irish National Flag for the first time by Thomas Francis Meagher in Waterford on March 7th 1848.
Waterford City welcomes veterans, military and diplomatic representatives along with members of the 69th Brigade New York. The event consists of a book launch on Friday 01 Julay and a series of lectures on the Saturday morning in Waterford Museum of Treasures.
The highlight of the weekend is the Flag Raising Ceremony held outside the Waterford Crystal building on the Mall Waterford at 12 noon, brass bands lead the way from Meagher Quay to the Flag Raising ceremony as audiences gather outside the Bishops Palace Museum.
