Dr Tom Walsh Lecture with Lara Marlowe - Wexford Festival Opera
Wexford Town, Co. Wexford
3 November 2023
The 2023 Dr Tom Walsh Lecture will be given by Lara Marlowe, a journalist for more than forty years. Marlowe’s work for the Irish Times has received four press awards and her 2021 memoir with Robert Fisk was an Irish best seller.

The Lecture: From Innocent Victims to Daring Warriors; Real-life Stories of Women in War.

Lara Marlowe has witnessed firsthand the impact of war on women. At the Wexford Festival Opera, she will recount how the loss of loved ones, rape, bombardment, and exile transformed the lives of women she met. And she will describe the women participating in the defence of Ukraine.

They are grateful for the ongoing support of the Lecture by Victoria Walsh Hamer, daughter of the Festival’s Founder, Dr Tom Walsh.
