This event will start with a stroll along our Cut Flower border and around the stunning gardens of Killruddery to gather plants to add to your dye pots. Kathryn will guide you through the process of preparing your fibres for dye through cleaning & mordanting (an ingredient added to ensure the dye binds to the fibre for long-lasting colour).
Kathryn will provide all the necessary materials along with a prepped and mordanted item for you to dye and take home. Participants will have the opportunity to dye various fibres in a wide range of colours & experiment with expanding their palette. Students will leave with their own natural dye swatch book from samples created during class & a finished naturally dyed piece.
