Meet the Makers - Wicklow
Food experiences
Escape Dublin city on a day trip to Wicklow on a guided food and drink trail to a country estate, a winery, a brewery and a distillery. You’ll Meet the Makers who produce the county’s local food, wine, beer and whiskey. Ideal for 10-16 people.

The tour will depart Dublin city centre hotels (3) and can facilitate pickups in Wicklow along the way. It is ideal for small groups of 10-16 people.

This is the first stop where you'll experience a taste of Killruddery, a true sensory experience, blending the history of the 17th century house with the “down to earth” in the Kitchen Garden, where you will hear about the heritage and horticulture before foraging, smelling, tasting and picking seasonal herbs & salad leaves. The chef will meet you to offer Killruddery pork sausage rolls along with your freshly picked leaves, tea & coffee and a sweet taster, which you can eat in the Horse Yard or by the fire in the comfort of the rustic Shoot Room. Your guide will be owner-manager Fionnuala Ardee wife of "Lord Ardee", part of the 16th generation of Brabazons to live at Killruddery!

You’ll meet Pamela and Brett, the creators of Móinéir premium berry wines. Ireland has a long but little-known history of making wines from the wild, native fruits of the island. Tour the winery with Pamela or Brett, and hear how they've built on the old traditions to create, with care and passion, their award winning Irish strawberry, blackberry and raspberry wines. Experience the new wines, fermenting or maturing and then enjoy a taste of each of the matured wines and relish their unique characteristics, from the aromas to the colours and flavours. You’ll experience the wines again paired with local artisan cheeses and chocolates.

The next stop is the Wicklow Wolf Brewery where you’ll enjoy a tour and tasting of their Irish craft beers. Wicklow Wolf aim to be brewers of exceptional beers, brewed without compromise and with true passion, locally rooted and one with nature. Meet Quincey or Simon, co-owners of this brewery, for a fun and informal tour and tasting. Wicklow Wolf Brewery are brave enough to grow their own hops in Ireland, no mean feat with our climate! Tour the brew-house, see, smell and taste the ingredients and learn about the brewing process before tasting the pack.

Set against the backdrop of the Great Sugarloaf Mountain and drawing from an underground lake of pure water that lies beneath the Estate, Powerscourt sets the perfect stage for distilling Irish whiskey. Enjoy a guided tour of the distillery and on-site maturation warehouse followed by three samples of their award winning Fercullen Irish Whiskeys and carefully selected food pairings.

Travel back to Dublin in your bus having had a taste of truly unique local flavours all made in different ways. Meeting the Makers behind these products and hearing their story makes it all the more special as you can get a sense of the detail and passion that goes into making small batches of quality food and drink.

Available dates are: October 3rd, 13th, 19th and 26th, November 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th.
