Holly Somerville is a trained botanist and illustrator with twenty-five years experience of botanical painting. From April to September she teaches botanical watercolour workshops for all levels, from beginner to advanced, in her renovated millhouse studio at Mount Slaney, overlooking the West Wicklow mountains. A delicious healthy lunch and all painting materials are included in the cost of the workshops, along with tea, coffee and homemade traybakes available throughout the day in the studio.
Eleven acres of garden designed by Arthur Shackleton, including a wood and stream, provide plenty of beautiful plant material as subject matter for painting. Holly aims to provide a peaceful and motivating environment, away from the stresses of everyday living, allowing participants to relax and improve their painting skills, and to swap notes with like-minded people interested in art and plants.
Only ten participants per workshop allows Holly to give everyone individual guidance throughout the day.
