Killadangan House is a Georgian style building, erected in the 1850s as a grand estate house for the land agent of George Bingham, 3rd Earl of Lucan (1800 - 1888), who was the overseer of the lands that stretch from the Barony of Murrisk in West Mayo to the Delphi Valley in the South. Killadangan House sits on an imposing elevated site in the shadow of Croagh Patrick within minutes of Westport town. The spectacular panoramic views from Killadangan stretch over Clew Bay to Mulrany, Achill and Clare Island beyond.
This elegant Victorian property offers oodles of history and has benefited from meticulous and tasteful refurbishment over the last 5 years by its present owner.
After passing the historic iron gate visitors drive up to the front car park of Killadangan House. The imposing granite steps lead to the main entrance. A long light flooded hall escorts guests on the right side to the main sitting room (Drawing Room) and the main dining room with panoramic views over Clew Bay. On the left side there is a cosy sitting room with stove (The Parlour), a small dining room and the kitchen.
On the ground floor there is a bedroom (Connaught Room), a bathroom and a guest toilet. On the ground floor there are four bedrooms (Ulster, Munster, Leinster and The Garden Room), the main bathroom and another guest toilet. The main room on the ground floor is "The Old Kitchen" with a huge traditional open fireplace. This room can be used for lectures, therapies and other group activities. A spacious sauna completes the picture.
