To celebrate the 50th year anniversary of Malahide Castle and Gardens opening to the public, they are running a series of special events and exhibitions in 2024.

Announcing a new exhibit and the first instalment in the series as part of the current running castle guided tours.

This exhibition explores the life of Lord Milo Talbot of Malahide (1912-1973), the last Baron to live at the castle. It covers his childhood in England, his mysterious diplomatic career, his extensive travels and his imprint on Malahide Castle. Recognising his great contribution to botany & plant collecting and research on the art collection.

Milo died 50 years ago aged only 60 and his sudden death led to the eventual end of the Talbot’s at Malahide Castle in 1976. This exhibition looks at his contribution to the history of the castle and the legacy he left behind.

Family funMalahide Castle and Gardens

Malahide Castle and Gardens is on 250 acres of parkland in the pretty seaside town of Malahide in County Dublin. It was both a fortress and a private home for nearly 800 years and has an interesting mix of architectural styles. It is popular for its guided tours of the castle interior, children's playground, fairy trail, butterfly house, old abbey ruins, walking trails, Avoca store and café and the Talbot Botanic Gardens with exotic specimens.
