Maharabeg Beach in County Kerry has a very extensive sandy beach and dune system. The area is protected and is a Sac Special Area of Conservation. The beach is located 3 miles north of the town of Castlegregory on the Maharees Peninsula.
The area is composed of carboniferous limestone and the area in general including the islands off the coast are important wintering grounds for birds including, brent and barnacle geese.
The beach has lifeguards on duty during the summer bathing season. Lifeguard times are posted on the information noticeboard at the beach.
