Gaelforce Great River Swim
Lanesborough, Co. Longford
18 May 2024
Swim in the mighty River Shannon, Ireland’s longest and largest river. The location for this swim is the pretty village of Lanesborough, Co. Longford, on the border with Co. Roscommon where the River Shannon meets the northern end of Lough Ree.

This river swim offers three distances: 5.8km | 3.1km | 800m. This swim is current assisted as you will be swimming down-river, so the distances are longer than their other Gaelforce Great Swim Trilogy events.

This is the first event of the new Gaelforce Great Swim Trilogy. They’ve added two exciting new swims to the ever-popular Great Fjord Swim. Swim in the River Shannon, Lough Derg and Killary Fjord to experience the best of Ireland’s iconic waterways and complete the trilogy. Great Lake Swim | Great Fjord Swim

Wetsuit and non-wetsuit swimmers are welcome in all distances. Expert kayakers and safety boats will be on hand at all times.

Readers are advised to check with the organiser before relying on the details published here.
