A beautiful, old country house of considerable historic interest, Bansha Castle is a truly unique self-catering accommodation in County Tipperary. The house boasts a tranquil, secluded setting adjacent to forest and mountain walks.

Bansha Castle is one of Ireland’s best kept secret getaways. The historic estate offers visitors a haven of rest and relaxation in County Tipperary. The lovely old country house, dating from the 1760s, is set in private grounds with mature gardens, backed by the beautiful Glen of Aherlow and the famous Galtee Mountains. Once owned by General Sir William Butler, the Butlers of Ormond crest is still evident on the façade of the round tower, highlighting the rich heritage of this unique residence.

Downstairs, guests will find a newly refurbished and fully equipped country style kitchen. There is an elegant dining room with the space to seat 15 to 18 people, an anteroom with full snooker table and spacious lounge. Outside, there is a large patio and covered BBQ area contained within walled private gardens, so guests can make the most of warm, sunny days. The first and second floors, meanwhile, comprise seven lovely bedrooms (all with private facilities), where guests are sure to enjoy a restful night’s sleep. There is also a library/reading area on the 1st floor landing.

Set just 100 metres north of Bansha Village, the castle is ideally positioned within an hour of Cork, Kilkenny and Limerick. Within about 15km, guests will find three highly rated 18 hole golf courses. The area also boasts extensive walking, road-cycling and MTB routes within minutes, fishing in season on the River Suir, tennis and horse racing in Tipperary and Clonmel. Local places of interest include the Rock of Cashel, Cahir Castle, Holy Cross Abbey, Mitchelstown Caves, Swiss Cottage, Glen of Aherlow, Ballyhoura MTB trails, Suir Blueway

Bansha Castle plays host to intimate family and friends gatherings, including wedding blessings, small civil wedding ceremonies(40 max), corporate events, business meetings, birthday and anniversary celebrations, and family reunions. Caterers can be recommended.
